Revamp That Resume

As promised in our earlier post, we will now give you a lowdown on how you can spruce up your resume at Jobrary. Working with typically mundane document templates to create resumes is a thing of the past, when you can upload your professional details online.

Not only is your resume freely available online to prospective employers, its customization is virtually a mouse-click away. Using these convenient tools, your resume can now be a reflection of who you are, rather than a dreary, déjà-vu-inducing ordinary template. Here’s how you can emerge triumphant with a uniquely outstanding resume.

Go Fundamental

GoFundamentalSometimes classic is the way to go. At Jobrary we start you off with standard resume sections like objective, experience and skills. This is your familiar commencement point as you embark upon the experience of turbo-charging your resume. The presence of these parts is essential for any resume to be considered functional. However, where you go from this vanilla initial stage is left entirely up to your tastes, preferences and risk appetite.

Pick your Ammo

PickyourAmmoSelect your weapons of choice and confidently fire away your credentials. Rather than fitting yourself in a conventional mold, the resume template fits around you. Typical sections that are irrelevant or touch upon your improvement areas can be conveniently deleted. Similarly, resume elements that highlight your strengths can be added effortlessly.

The Power of Rechristening

RenameSectionTitleRename your section titles appropriately based on your job profile, industry and past experience. You no longer need to feel constrained by rigid section labels. Jobrary understands that the corporate environment today is diverse. If you are a chef, for instance, and want your Skills section to be rechristened as Specialties, so be it. Similarly, as a freelance photographer, you may wish to think out-of-the-box and rename all your sections creatively. Your resume can exude a personalized charm by renaming sections e.g. Objective could be changed to Focus, Experience to Exposure, or Contact Details to Zoom In on Me.

Change the Order

ChangeOrderIn addition to adding and deleting entire sections or changing their titles, you can even modify the order in which sections of your resume appear. Each section contains “Move Up” and “Move Down” buttons for easy rearrangement. You may want to shuffle elements of your resume to see what looks best to the discerning eye. For instance, you may want your Certifications to be displayed immediately after Education, or you may prefer indicating your Experience in the very beginning. Now, you can be the judge of how your resume content should flow.

Leave your Mark

leaveyourmarkHaving impressed your prospective employers with your qualifications and interesting approach in presenting information about yourself, there’s one more thing that can sweeten the deal.  Let them know who you are! Help your assessors place a face to your name by uploading a picture of yourself. After all, some printed resumes also contain passport size boxes to glue your picture on. Here, on the other hand, you merely upload the selected image from your desktop and you’re done!

We’re confident the much-dreaded task of creating/ updating your resume will undergo a radical change when you rev up your resume with these handy features.
